Commemorative coins are issued to commemorate and promote national events and historical occasions. In this special exhibition, a variety of commemorative coins are showcased, including those from the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics, as well as commemorative coins from various countries and past editions of the Winter Olympics.

From 2016 to 2017, PyeongChang commemorative coins were issued twice, including the 30,000-won and the 20,000-won gold coins, the 5,000-won silver coin, and the 1,000-won bronze coin. These commemorative coins feature Winter Olympic disciplines such as short track, speed skating, bobsleigh, figure skating, ski jumping, and snowboarding, along with the emblem and Soohorang, the mascot of the PyeongChang Games, and other designs.

In 2017, commemorative coins of the 5,000-won and the 1,000-won were issued. These commemorative coins feature various Winter Paralympic disciplines along with the emblem and Bandabi, the mascot of PyeongChang Paralympics.

This is the first commemorative coin ever issued for the Winter Olympics. The obverse side of the 50-schilling silver coin features the Olympic emblem and a depiction of ski jumping. On the reverse side, various patterns from the Austrian monarchy are imprinted.

In commemoration of the revolution against the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz in Mexico in 1910, the commemorative 5-peso coin was issued in 2009 and 2010. The coin features depictions of Mexican revolutionary figures, such as Emiliano Zapata and President Venustiano Carranza.
